Astor Services for Children & Families Receives $180K Grant from the Tiger Foundation

1/5/21

Astor Services for Children & Families has received a $180,000 grant from the Tiger Foundation to provide services to its clients and to address unmet needs in the Bronx due to COVID-19, through a systemic screening program. This program will identify students and families in need; ensure that referrals and services are being provided in a timely manner; and that these services are positively impacting the well-being of clients.

“We are delighted to have to have Tiger Foundation’s support and investment” said Yvette Bairan, CEO, Astor. “This has been a difficult time for all, but especially for children and families of color who are disproportionally impacted by COVID in the areas of health and education, among others. Tiger Foundation’s aid will allow us to support and impact their mental health and other needs, provide services and connect them to community resources as needed.”

Charles Buice, President of Tiger Foundation, stated, “Astor’s direct support to children and families being impacted by the pandemic aligns well with our mission and we are thrilled to be able to support them.”

At the beginning of the pandemic, Astor created a Toll-Free Astor Client Hotline (1-866-ASTOR01) to assist with any questions current or new clients may have during the crisis. Astor rolled out 50 dedicated phone lines to support telehealth services, in order to continue providing vital services to their children and help new clients.
