8/27/20

Rockefeller Center today announces that on September 3, Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson’s Frenchette and Ignacio Mattos’ Estela will make their Midtown debut at The Rink at Rockefeller Center, showcasing Tishman Speyer’s continued commitment to bringing one-of-a-kind hospitality experiences to its iconic public spaces.

Each restaurant has curated a limited-edition, picnic style menu of snacks, small plates, and seafood alongside their signature beverage programs. Through The Rink at Rockefeller Center’s Resy page, diners can book reservations beginning August 27 and place prix fixe orders in advance for Frenchette at The Rink (Wednesdays and Thursdays) and Estela at The Rink (Fridays and Saturdays.) Reservations are available Wednesday through Saturday with multiple seatings each night starting at 5:00 P.M., with no walk-ins possible. Guests will enjoy their picnics at large, wooden tables spaced 6ft apart to maintain social distancing guidelines, shaded by white canvas umbrellas.

“We are thrilled to add Frenchette and Estela to Rockefeller Center’s dynamic lineup of restaurants, and give even more New Yorkers the opportunity to enjoy their incredible offerings this summer,” said EB Kelly, Tishman Speyer Managing Director who oversees Rockefeller Center. “Year-round, we strive to present one-of-a-kind experiences and moments that can happen not just ‘only in New York’ but only at Rockefeller Center. Enjoying these incredible restaurants in the heart of the City, while surrounded by magnificent artworks on display at Frieze Sculpture at Rockefeller Center in our plazas, absolutely is one of those experiences.”

Chef Ignacio Mattos’ Michelin-starred downtown restaurant Estela will curate a one-of-a-kind experience every Friday and Saturday evening. Designed with an end-of-summer picnic in mind, the menu features a selection of snacks including Urfa pepper labneh, cured olive and caper dip, Ubraico Rosso cheese custard, baguette, chips and crackers, accompanied by a seafood tower with Duxbury gem oysters, snow crab, scallop crudo, shrimp cocktail, Maine lobster, raw tuna with seaweed and sunflower seeds, and Littleneck clams with jalapeño and cilantro. Diners can add Pointy Snout Oscietra caviar with crème fraiche to their seafood towers for an additional $20 per person. Cocktails, wine, beer, and dessert will be available for purchase at Estela’s onsite bar.

Frenchette, the 2019 James Beard Foundation Awards winner of Best New Restaurant from Chef-Owners Riad Nasr and Lee Hanson who previously announced they will open a new location at 45 Rockefeller Plaza in 2021, will offer two seatings on Wednesday and Thursday evenings of a curated picnic basket filled with an assortment of French dishes including: summer corn vichyssoise, petite terrine de pintade, Spanish tortilla with bottarga, homard macédoin, salad de tomates, a homemade pain surprise, gigot froide anchoïade, roasted cauliflower shawarma, grilled nardello peppers with white beans, mushrooms a la grecque, petits fours, and blueberry pithivier. Magnums of natural wine can be pre-ordered, and beer and cocktails will be available to order onsite. Menu items may change due to seasonal availability.

The restaurants will offer two ticket options for their prix fixe picnic baskets, for up to four or eight guests at $125 per person. In addition to the prix fixe dinners, each week Frenchette and Estela will offer a complimentary edible giveaway to Rockefeller Center visitors.
