Industry veteran will help L&L realize the 2.6 million square feet of commercial space currently in its development pipeline

L&L Holding Company announced today that it has appointed Jamil Lacourt as Executive Vice President and Director of Construction, effective June 1st. Lacourt comes to L&L with more than 20 years of real estate, construction, and project management experience spanning a wide variety of project types, including core and shell construction, base building repositioning, interior fit-outs and historic preservation.

The appointment of Lacourt comes during the most active period of development in L&L’s 20-year history. Under the leadership of co-founders David Levinson and Robert Lapidus, L&L is nearing completion on 425 Park Avenue, which is the first full-block office tower to rise on that iconic stretch of Park Avenue in more than half a century.

L&L is also in the early stages of demolition and construction of TSX Broadway, a $2 billion mixed-use development featuring a 669-room luxury hotel in the heart of Times Square. As part of this project, L&L will lift the historic Palace Theatre 29 feet in order to make way for street-level experiential retail and an iconic outdoor stage floating above Times Square. In addition, L&L recently received approval to move forward with a reinvention of Terminal Warehouse, a massive, block-long West Chelsea storage facility that will be artfully transformed into a one-of-a-kind work environment for the 21st century creative economy.

“At L&L Holding, we pride ourselves on our ability to conceive of and undertake highly-complex construction projects that have the potential to create significant value to the neighborhoods in which they are located,” said David Levinson, Chairman and CEO of L&L Holding Company. “We are thrilled to add Jamil to our growing team of design and development professionals entrusted with turning our visions into reality.”

Lacourt, who will report to David Levinson and work alongside Vice Chairman of Capital Construction Bill Potts, will manage the firm’s construction group. In this newly-created role, he will also be responsible for establishing uniform practices for reporting, bidding and budgeting, coordinating contractor and subcontractor relationships, and executing construction efforts throughout L&L’s growing portfolio of commercial properties.

Prior to joining L&L, Lacourt served as Principal and Director of Project Management for OC Development Management, where he led the firm’s project management team. In this position, he oversaw L&L’s repositioning and expansion of 150 Fifth Avenue. Other notable projects include the base building redevelopment of 368 Ninth Avenue (a.k.a. 21 Penn Plaza) and 695 Sixth Avenue, the redevelopment of 780 Third Avenue, landlord representation of capital projects at 100 Williams Street, a large commercial interior project for a financial institution at 390 Madison Avenue, master planning for the redevelopment of 405 Park Avenue, and façade improvements at 315 Park Avenue South.

Prior to OC Development Management, Lacourt served as Vice President at JLL, Associate Director of Construction at Stanford University, and Senior Vice President at Citi. Throughout his career, some of his notable projects include the Row Houses at Stanford University, BBVA Bancomer’s 50-story corporate headquarters in Mexico City, pre-construction services for WWE and Madison Square Garden, and construction at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn.

Lacourt received a Bachelor of Science degree in construction management from the State University of New York (SUNY) Farmingdale. He also obtained his Project Management Professional (PMP) certification as well as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council.
