Webinar Is Latest in RICS’ WBEF Digital Panel Series

RICS will host its latest World Built Environment Forum Webinar on the COVID-19 Regional Economic Impactin North America on April 7 at 11:00 a.m. EST as part of the organization’s new, digital global thought leadership series on the most important issues facing land, infrastructure, real estate, investment and construction. This COVID-19 webinar series consists of four separate sessions, each focusing in turn on conditions in Asia Pacific, the UK and Ireland, Europe and North America.

“No matter where in the world you stand today, it is hard to know what lies beyond the horizon,” said John Busi FRICS, President of Valuation & Advisory at Newmark Knight Frank. “When circumstances beyond our control obscure the path forward, we need to stand on each other’s shoulders to get the best available view. It’s more important than ever to convene thought leaders to discuss the short- and long-term implications of this crisis.”

As the global economic ruptures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic continue, this webinar will look at the ongoing impact for commercial real estate investment markets and the construction sector to assess the medium- to long-term prospects of recovery. Further consideration will be given to whether various government support packages can ease the financial burden; how the crisis may prompt a paradigm shift in workplace, logistics and supply chain management strategies; the exacerbating effect of the crisis on the already struggling retail sector; and how the hospitality industry can weather the storm.

Industry-leading panelists for the North American webinar include Ben Elder, RICS Global Valuation Standards Director, John Busi, President of Valuation & Advisory for Newmark Knight Frank and Sean Bannon, Managing Director, Head of US Real Estate at Zurich Financial Services.

The World Built Environment Forum facilitates industry leading discussions harnessing the enormous potential of the 21st century's people and places. Upcoming webinars incude High Streets and the New Retail Landscape; High-Rise Buildings and High-Density Cities; Automation, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the Construction Sector; The AirBnB Effect: How Tourism is Disrupting Cities; The Future of Informal Settlements in the Urbanizing World; and The Liveable City: Stable, Smart and Healthy.
