Building Trades Employers’ Association To Host 116th Annual Leadership Dinner

Honoring Top Developers Harry Macklowe, Paul Darrah and Lorraine Grillo

The Building Trades Employers’ Association (BTEA) will host its 116th Annual Leadership Dinner on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at the Ziegfeld Ballroom at 141 West 54th Street in New York City. This reception is the construction industry’s largest networking event of the year. The event chairmen are Jay Badame, President of AECOM Building Construction Division, AECOM Tishman Construction and Peter Davoren, President and Chief Executive Officer, Turner Construction Company.

2019 Honorees

The BTEA will recognize three industry leaders who are transforming the New York City Skyline. This annual dinner is among one of the BTEA’s biggest events and is attended by over 500 industry leaders and members.

Harry Macklowe, Chairman and Founder of Macklowe Properties started in real estate in 1960 as a commercial leasing broker and then as a property developer and builder. Today, his company combines design, planning, construction, management and accounting with executive-level ownership and operation to provide for absolute responsibility and control over its assets. Mr. Macklowe’s contributions to Manhattan’s streetscape range from the Metropolitan Tower on West 57th Street to the iconic Apple glass cube store in front of the GM Building. 

Paul Darrah, the Director of Real Estate for Google, is responsible for overseeing all aspects of real estate strategy, design and development in New York. His work includes delivering innovative workplace solutions and amenities that enable Googlers to thrive, while accommodating Google’s continued growth in New York City. Paul recently revealed on his initiatives for the company to double in size in the New York City area over the next decade. He intends to continue its development of the Chelsea campus and is looking to develop a space in Hudson Square.

During eight years as President of the New York City School Construction Authority, Lorraine Grillo has overseen over $25 billion of construction, producing over 75,000 new school seats and completing thousands of capital improvement projects. She has led the SCA in its effort to find new and innovative ways to address school overcrowding including developing strong public and private partnerships with major developers.This past July, Lorraine was appointed Commissioner of the NYC Department of Design and Construction and is currently overseeing the construction of public buildings and infrastructure projects for 29 sponsor agencies.
