The Arc of Dutchess Celebrates Front Line Staff with An Evening of Discovery: Voyages

3/5/19

Signature event immerses guests in storytelling experience, made possible by organization staff

The Arc of Dutchess announces its signature event, An Evening of Discovery: Voyages. For the third year in a row, this event furthers the organization’s goal of creating a community where people of all abilities are welcome and celebrated, and this year honors the unique commitments of The Arc of Dutchess’ Direct Support Professionals (DSP’s) the organization’s employees who provide assistance to supported individuals. The event will be held on Thursday, March 28 at 5:30 pm at The Grandview in Poughkeepsie.

The evening will lead guests on an interactive journey through the agency told by film, art, theater exhibits and culminating in a never-before-seen film production. In addition to meeting staff and learning about their talents and stories, attendees will be directed to visit exhibits by conductors and receive passports guiding them throughout the experience to win their very own ‘voyage’. Guests will also have the opportunity to applaud Joan Sherman, as she accepts the Catherine Seeberger Citizenship Award for her extensive contributions to the local community.

“This event brings you closer than ever to the extraordinary people that make The Arc of Dutchess so special,” said Crys McCuin, executive director of The Arc of Dutchess. “Our DSP’s make enormous sacrifices for the individuals they support and the bond they share is something you can’t put into words. We are excited to share with our community why they should be praised and celebrated for their outstanding work not just this evening, but each and every day.”

Tickets are available for purchase by visiting arcdutchess.org/tickets or by contacting Evelyn Flavin at (845) 635‐8084 x21100 or eflavin@arcdutchess.org. Event tickets are $60 for members and $80 for general admission.
