11/4/18

More than 1,750 real estate industry professionals turned out for Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group’s fourth annual CS Talks, a nine-day series of compelling events and conversations that spanned 19 new developments represented by the city’s top new development marketing firm. Since its launch in 2015, CS Talks has brought more than 5,000 industry leaders to Corcoran Sunshine projects throughout New York City, with attendance increasing every year.

For the past four years, CS Talks has provided the real estate community a rare look behind the façade of the city’s top new developments, as well as access to some of the most respected developers, designers, architects, artists, and city executives in New York.

Waterline Square kicked off the festivities for the second year in a row, hosted by James Linsley of GID Development Group — this year featured an incredible one-night-only light installation by artist Luigi Cazzaniga, curated by Doreen Remen and Yvonne Force Villareal of Culture Corps.

The city’s top architects showed up in force for this year’s CS Talks. At 30 Park Place, legendary architect Robert A.M. Stern joined famed developer Larry Silverstein for a conversation about their building in front of a packed house, moderated by Zachary Kussin of the New York Post. Deborah Berke, Dean of the Yale School of Architecture, as well as partner Stephen Brockman gave a masterclass on architecture and design at 40 East End Avenue, and a talk with the office of architect Sir David Adjaye in the sales gallery for 130 William in the Financial District explored the thought process behind the building’s 2,322 arched windows. The Upper West Side’s 207W79 hosted building architect Morris Adjmi, who communicated the importance of context within historic neighborhoods.

Interior design was celebrated in a number of different ways at this year’s CS Talks. At The Bryant, female entrepreneurs in the design space, including Susan Clark (Radnor), Louise Sigvardt (Bunn Studio), Crystal Ellis (Egg Collective), and Anna Karlin (Anna Karlin Studio) had a dialogue moderated by Hadley Keller from Architectural Digest, and the history of Italian design was presented by B&B Italia at 287/LES on Houston Street.

A panel moderated by Architectural Digest’s David Foxley at Manhattan View at MiMA showcased AD 100 Designer Jamie Drake, famed NYC gallerist Sean Kelly, and developer Winfred Zhang of President & CEO of SCG Americawith incredible views overlooking Downtown Manhattan. Participants were treated to very special first-look hardhat tour of The Shops & Restaurants at Hudson Yards at Fifteen Hudson Yards by R. Webber Hudson and Kevin Stuessi from Related Urban, who confirmed that many spaces will be opening to the public in March of 2019.

CS Talks also showcased the numerous facets of the lifestyle and amenity offerings in buildings represented by Corcoran Sunshine. Celebrity event planner Bronson van Wyck gave a lively talk on the power of hospitality, framed by the beautiful views of the Hudson River at 70 Vestry. The Upper East Side’s Citizen360 welcomed building interior designer Clodagh, Karen Ballou of Immunocologie, and Debra Duneier of EcoChi to participated on a panel hosted by Beth Brenner of Domino Magazine to discuss lifestyle and amenities at the building, with a focus on wellness.

Again this year, CS Talks offered rare insights into the industry by thought leaders in all fields. 88&90 Lex was the site of a discussion of the past, present, and future of Madison Square Park by Keats Myer, the Executive Director of the Madison Square Park Conservancy. Landscape artistBrook Klausing, designer of some of the most sought-after private gardens in New York, gave tips for those attendees with a green thumb at 277 Fifth Avenue, and tech guru Matthew Shadbolt of Inman News relayed thoughts on tech’s growing role in real estate at Tribeca’s One Hundred Barclay.

Festivities were in full swing with celebrations at the launches of highly-anticipated projects: 11 Hoyt in Downtown Brooklyn featured a dialogue with MacArthur Foundation Fellow and architect Jeanne Gang, moderated by Dan Rubinstein of Departures Magazine, and Greenwich West in Hudson Square featured a French wine tasting with Grant Reynolds, the master sommelier of Charlie Bird. New model residences and amenities were unveiled at d’Orsay with a champagne toast, and 53W53 was a must-see for their exclusive look at an Andy Warhol-inspired jewelry collection along with BVLGARI.

One of the most talked-about events at CS Talks this year was held at CODA, featuring breakfast from Shake Shack and puppies up for adoption on loan from Animal Haven for a discussion offering dog training tips for New York apartment owners.

“With CS Talks, we hope to inspire the real estate community to consider all of the amazing stories behind our new developments, as well as the key personalities behind the scenes who help create them,” said Kelly Kennedy Mack, President of Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group. “We are excited to celebrate our most well-attended CS Talks to date and have received incredibly positive feedback from agents, developers, and participants alike. We are very much looking forward to next year’s fifth anniversary of CS Talks.”
