BOMA New York Announces Nominees for Annual Pinnacle Awards

The Building Owners and Managers Association of Greater New York (BOMA New York) is pleased to announce a total of 27 nominees across 12 categories for its upcoming annual Pinnacle Awards celebration at Pier Sixty on February 28, 2019 beginning at 5:30 PM. The nominees of these awards are exemplary leaders within their respective disciplines of the commercial real estate industry. All nominees undergo an extensive submission process recognizing individuals and buildings that best embody the passion and professionalism that can only be found in New York City.

Celebrating Achievement in Leadership

The Pinnacle Awards is the Commercial Real Estate’s leading awards. It recognizes those who achieve the BOMA New York vision of excellence, furthering its mission and symbolizing its commitment to tenants, clients and the city at large. Recognition for such contribution is made in the Outstanding Local Member of the Year and Manager of the Year categories. The nominees in the Outstanding Local Member of the Year category are Julie Arce of JLL, Laura Belt Ponomarev, RPA, FMA ofThe 58-64 40th Street Corporation, Mitchell Grant, RPA of RXR Realty and Steven Serrano of NYC Cooling Tower Inspection and Services.

Joseph McCausland, CPM, RPA, FMA, SMA, SMT, LEED AP O+M of Cushman & Wakefield and Daniela Perez, FMA, RPA, LEED GAfrom Empire State Realty Trust are nominated for Manager of the Year in the 10-year plus executive category, while nominees for Manager of the Year for the 3 to 10-year category include Endrit Kukaj, RPA of SL Green Realty Corp., Adrian Sierra of Vornado Realty Trust and Lawrence Spahn, RPA, FMA, SMA, SMT, LEED AP of H&R REIT (U.S.) Management Services Inc.

A New Award and its Categories

The Engineer of the Year award was created this year to distinguish and recognize an engineer who has made outstanding contributions towards maintaining its property to the highest standards possible and provides an outstanding level of professionalism when working with their building tenants and staff. This award will recognize engineers in two categories: Chief Operating Engineer of the Year in buildings above 500,000 square feet and Operating Engineer of the Year in buildings below 500,000 square feet.

The nominees in the Chief Operating Engineer of the Year category are Mike Galvin, SMT of SL Green Realty Corp., John Hosford andSteve Nathan, SMT of Silverstein Properties, Brian O'Malley of CBRE, Michael Placente of RXR Realty, Daniel Syvarth of Cushman & Wakefield and Edilberto Valdez, FMA, LEED GA of Stahl Organization.

The nominees in the Operating Engineer of the Year category are Francis Noonan, SMT of Met Life - 200 Park Avenue and David Rodriguez of The Moinian Group.

Recognizing Excellence Throughout the City

The 2019 building categories include Historical Building of the Year with nominee, SL Green Realty Corp.’s 420 Lexington Avenue. Vornado Realty’s 90 Park Avenue and CBRE’s 30 Broad Street are up for Renovated Building of the Year. Silverstein Properties’ 3 World Trade Center is nominated for New Construction of the Year. The Operating Building of the Year Awards are divided into three categories, with SL Green Realty Corp.’s 11 Madison Avenue and JLL’s 140 Broadway in the over one million square foot category, JLL’s 757 Third Avenue in the 500,000-square foot to one million square foot category and Cushman & Wakefield’s Heron Tower in the 100,000 to 249,999-square foot category. Additionally, NY Life’s 51 Madison Avenue is nominated for Corporate Facility of the Year.

Lead by Example, Management Fosters Knowledge and Passion

The Pinnacle Awards is chaired by Thomas Krol of Donnelly Mechanical Corporation with the assistance of the sub-committee which includes John Leitner of Environmental Building Solutions, Michael Flatley of Alliance Building Services, Alyssa Zucker of Vornado Realty Trust, Julie Arce of JLL, Matt Blaszkiewicz of RXR Realty, Karl Tremmel of Cushman & Wakefield, Tom Walsh of Burnham New York, Erin Leahy of Cushman & Wakefield, Patrick Dolan of The Durst Organization and Charles Marr of CBRE.

The Pinnacle Awards

The Pinnacle Awards, hosted by BOMA New York, is the New York City commercial real estate market’s biggest night of the year; honoring top commercial real estate professionals in the Greater New York Region. Local Pinnacle Award winners qualify to compete at the Regional, Mid-Atlantic TOBY (The Outstanding Building of the Year) awards and regional winners are then automatically entered in to the BOMA International TOBY competition.
