The Singer & Bassuk Organization LLC (SBO), a boutique real estate finance intermediary serving many of New York City’s most prominent owners and developers, has added Robert E. Lawrence to its leadership team as Executive Managing Director.

A prolific loan originator for many years, Mr. Lawrence has been responsible for direct originations valued at more than $10 billion. He has also been materially involved in additional transactions valued at more than $50 billion.

Mr. Lawrence most recently served as Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of Origination at Guggenheim Commercial Real Estate Finance, where he led and managed the origination platform for both CMBS and affiliated life companies.

Prior to his tenure at Guggenheim, Mr. Lawrence was Managing Director and Head of the Securitized Products Group-Asia with JP Morgan Securities Japan Co.

He had previously held the position of Managing Director with JP Morgan Chase & Co. in New York, and prior to that was a Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of Origination-Global CMBS with Bear Stearns & Co.

Rob has been an active member of the Young Presidents’ Organization, the Urban Land Institute, and the Real Estate Capital Advisory Committee of The Real Estate Roundtable.

A resident of Port Washington, NY, Mr. Lawrence has served on the board of the Green Vale School in Old Brookville, NY. He has volunteered with Covenant House, and developed and implemented the strategy for the sale of the Covenant House headquarters building.

Mr. Lawrence holds a Master of Science degree in Real Estate Investment and Development from the Real Estate Institute at New York University [Schack Institute] and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Vermont.
