Tishman Construction Managing Construction for Hudson Yards, a $15-Billion Mixed-use Development
The 26-acre site will become the core of New York City’s new west side
Tishman Construction, an AECOM company, is working in partnership with Related Companies as Hudson Yards Construction LLC to manage the construction of Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group’s Hudson Yards. The 26-acre, US$15-billion mixed-use project is the largest piece of undeveloped property in Manhattan, and will become the core of New York City’s new west side.
Comprised of 13-million-square-foot, the development will include five towers, a luxury hotel, a new public school, a nonprofit cultural facility, and 14 acres of open space. This model mixed-use master plan, designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), translates into a total of 6.75 million square feet of commercial space, five million square feet of residential space and over one million square feet of retail space. Throughout its duration, the project is expected to provide over 23,000 construction jobs for New York City.
“We are thrilled to be working with Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group in managing the construction of this visionary site for Manhattan’s west side,” said Jay Badame, president of Tishman Construction for New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. “The project’s innovative and dynamic approach will set the standard for the future of urban development.”
Construction officially started in the fall of 2012 and is expected to span 10 to 12 years, delivered in two phases. Work began last December on the south tower, which will be the only building at Hudson Yards sitting on land. The remainder will rest on a platform over the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) Eastern and Western rail yards.
