Biggest Gainer
In New York, Pfizer (NYSE:PFE) closed at $24.41 (+1%), making it Thursday's biggest gainer. The runner up gainer, rising 0.8% to close at $106.79 on volume of 1.8 million, was Colgate-palmolive (NYSE:CL). The stock changed hands at one times its current three-month average volume, with 27 million shares traded. Pfizer is a global pharmaceutical company which develops and manufactures prescription medications for humans and animals.

Biggest Loser
Alcoa (NYSE:AA) closed at $9.25 (-2.3%), making it Thursday's biggest loser. Falling 2% to close at $17.21 on volume of 25 million, Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS) was also hit hard. The stock traded on volume of 20.8 million, one times its average over the past three months. Alcoa is a global producer of aluminum. It is mainly engaged in the production and management of primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum, and alumina combined. It is actively involved in a range of industries, including technology, mining, smelting, and recycling.
