Elliman continues tradition of supporting arts and cultural organizations

Opening reception to be held on June 27th at BRIC House

Douglas Elliman Real Estate is pleased to announce its sponsorship of Alchemy, a major summer 2018 art exhibition presented by BRIC, the leading presenter of free cultural programming in Brooklyn, and one of the largest in New York City. Alchemy features the work of seven artists reconceiving non-conventional materials in a reflection on the ancient concept of alchemy—the transformation of matter. An opening reception will be held on Wednesday, June 27th at BRIC House [647 Fulton Street] from 7pm to 9pm to kick off the exhibition, which will run from June 28th until August 12th.

“We’re excited to partner with BRIC this summer and help present this wonderfully curated exhibition,” said Max Dobens, Douglas Elliman’s Senior Regional Executive Manager of Sales in Brooklyn. “Our decision to partner with an organization like BRIC is a testament to Elliman’s firm understanding of the relationship between the worlds of art and real estate, as consistently seen through our support of Art Basel Miami Beach, Frieze New York and the Gold Coast Film Festival.

Exhibiting artists at Alchemy include Nicole Awai, Serra Victoria Bothwell Fels, Borinquen Gallo, Phoebe Grip, Miatta Kawinzi, Anna Riley, and Kennedy Yanko. Employing diverse media, these artists create visually layered statements about the body, gender, race, and the environment. Their work also manifests the potential for the spiritual to be drawn out from the everyday world around us.

The opening reception for Alchemy will include a performance by designer and performance artist Nana Poco, who will respond to the work of artist, Kennedy Yanko. As is BRIC’s tradition for summer exhibitions, Alchemy will be accompanied by a series of lively Wednesday evening and Friday afternoon public programs including those dedicated to conversation, performance, dance, and the healing arts. BRIC House is located at 647 Fulton Street at Rockwell Place, Brooklyn. For the full calendar of events, please visit: https://www.bricartsmedia.org/art-exhibitions/alchemy
