JBB’s Associate Partner Ryan Lean Named Top Young Professional

Ryan Lean

Jaros, Baum &Bolles (JB&B) is pleased to announce that Associate Partner Ryan Lean has been named as one of Engineering News Record (ENR) of New York’s Top Young Professionals. Each year, ENR’s regional publications invite people to nominate deserving, up-and-coming leaders working in the construction and design industries. Participants are judged based on their industry experience, education, leadership skills and community service.

New York received approximately 100 submissions, from which they chose just 20 winners. Those who made the Top 20 under 40 list, including Ryan, will be profiled in the January 2018 issue of ENR New York.

Leading by Example

As Associate Partner leading the Commissioning Department, Lean leverages his extensive experience in mechanical design of large-scale central plants in order to manage all new construction and existing building commissioning projects at JB&B, including day-to-day activities at the World Trade Center and Hudson Yards projects. Lean views the field of building commissioning and related services as one meant to foster relationships with owners and operators, to guide them through the challenges of transitioning to a new facility, whether it’s a commercial, mission-critical, educational, laboratory, healthcare, cultural or financial institution.

Lean, with his strong foundation in engineering design, has not only provided ongoing support for that foundation on projects but with JB&B’s engineering teams through his leadership in transforming JB&B’s in-house training program into a formal 11-college university, JB&B University. JB&B U is a classroom-based program intended to broaden the firm’s younger engineers’ knowledge base and accelerate staff development.

“Ryan’s recognition as a top young professional is an illustration of leading by example for all the younger engineers he mentors in the office, in the field, and through the JB&B U program he co-founded,” Rich McFadden, a Partner at JB&B, said. “We commend him on this prestigious acknowledgment and on his commitment to his craft as well as the legacy of JB&B.”

Mr. Lean’s industry leadership within the professional communityincludes his role as vice president and membership chair of the Northeast Chapter of the Building Commissioning Association and as president of the Building Commissioning Certification Board, the organization responsible for establishing certification of professional commissioning providers.
