Healthplex announces that its Board of Directors has appointed Christopher Schmidt, on November 10, 2017, as the company's new President and Chief Executive Officer.

Mr. Schmidt's people-focused leadership style, systems expertise, and market understanding will be instrumental in achieving the company's long term goals. "Healthplex will continue to grow and strengthen our regional footprint while maintaining our position as the premier dental benefit administrator in the New York/New Jersey area," says Schmidt.

Schmidt has been a part of the management team at Healthplex for over 30 years in various technical and strategic roles. As Chief Operating Officer, Schmidt fostered the growth of the company's commercial, municipal, and union business, in addition to federal and state government-funded programs. He holds an M.B.A. in Accounting, Finance, and Operations Management from Columbia University.

Schmidt's appointment follows the resignation of the company's former President and co-CEO, Sharon Zelkind, who has retired.
