Sharp Electronics Named Two-Time ASTORS Homeland Security Award Winner

12/6/17

On November 15th, 2017, American Security Today (AST) hosted their 2017 'ASTORS' Homeland Security Awards Luncheon at ISC East in New York City's Jacob Javits Convention Center. The Sharp INTELLOS Automated Unmanned Ground Vehicle (A-UGV) was awarded a platinum honor during the presentation for "Best Investigation/Surveillance/Detection Product". As a company, Sharp Electronics was named a platinum winner for "Leadership & Innovation in Homeland Security".

American Security Today (AST) organized the 'ASTORS' to "acknowledge the most distinguished vendors of physical, IT, port security, law enforcement and first responders, as well as excellence in federal, state, county, and municipal government agencies in appreciation of their outstanding efforts to 'Keep Our Nation Safe – One City at a Time'". Michael Madsen, Publisher of AST, announced to the hundreds of professionals attending the luncheon that winners will be featured in AST's Annual December 'ASTORS' Champions Edition – 'Year in Review'.

On hand to accept Sharp's 'ASTORS' awards were Cliff Quiroga, Vice President for Sharp Robotics Business Development and the team's Director of Marketing, Alice DiSanto. "Sharp is grateful for American Security Today's consideration of our outdoor, fully-automated robot for homeland security. Sharp invested strongly in voice of customer feedback from first responders and that feedback helped shape the features of our Sharp INTELLOS™ A-UGV. We are honored to offer them a product they can rely on as they serve to protect all of us," shared Cliff Quiroga. "Sharp has been designing and manufacturing robotic technology on a global level for over a decade and it's a privilege to be recognized for our leadership and innovation as it applies to the US security industry."

The Sharp INTELLOS A-UGV is a multi-terrain, mobile sensor, data-gathering robot that can capture video, audio, and environmental information, while providing a visible deterrent without the aid of a human driver. It utilizes a navigation surveillance platform to patrol predefined routes, extending the property coverage and impact of a traditional security force. It can also act as a sentry, monitoring in a stationary position, for an extra layer of protection and has a semi-autonomous mode for incident response. Included are standard information gathering tools, plus optional observation and sensor equipment configurable to meet a customer's changing safety needs.
