Hyland Levin LLP is pleased to announce that attorneys Benjamin A. Levin and Mark D. Shapiro have been named in Who’s Who Legal – Franchise Law 2017. Benjamin A. Levin is the managing partner of the firm and one of the country’s leading franchise lawyers. He represents global food manufacturers, national franchise companies and serves as outside general counsel to several companies based in the Mid-Atlantic region. A certified neutral arbitrator on the American Arbitration Association’s National Registry of Commercial Arbitrators, Ben has arbitrated several national and regional franchise, distributor and dealer termination matters. A founding Chair of the Franchise Law Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association, he also serves as Vice President – Finance of the Boys & Girls Club of Camden County and Vice President of Congregation Beth El, where he also chairs the Budget and Finance Committee. Ben is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce of Southern New Jersey. Ben is a graduate of American University (B.A. 1972), the State University of New York (M.Ed. 1974), and George Washington University Law School (J.D. 1977), with honors. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia (1977), New Jersey (1979), and Pennsylvania (1979).

Mark D. Shapiro, a partner in the firm, is an extremely well-respected national real estate and franchise lawyer. His franchise practice includes counseling regional and national franchisors on franchise structuring, operational, relationship and regulatory issues. Mark has participated as a program presenter on franchise law for the American Bar Association's Forum on Franchising, the New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education, the International Franchise Association and the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. He has also presented on real estate law for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and Lorman Education. He served as Chair (2009-2011) and Secretary (1997-1999) of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Franchise Law Committee. Active in the community, Mark has been a board member since 2003 and on the Executive Committee since 2005 of the Samost Jewish Family & Children’s Service, serving as President from 2012-2014. Mark also sits on the Board of Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey and the Board of the Jewish Community Foundation, Inc. A graduate of Emory University (B.A. 1990), Mark received his law degree from George Washington University Law School (J.D. 1993).
