BP Diaz, Zaro family & other community leaders to host much anticipated Grand Reopening at new Parkchester location

25% of first day proceeds from new store will be donated in support of Puerto Rican hurricane relief

Effective tomorrow, Zaro’s Family Bakery, New York’s historic and beloved family-owned bakery will reopen for business at Parkchester, The Bronx at its new location, 1309 Metropolitan Avenue. Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and other community leaders along with the Zarofamily will join together to host the grand reopening celebration at 10:10 am.

To commemorate the event, the Zaro family has pledged to donate 25 percent of the proceeds from Reopening Day sales at the new Parkchester store to aid ongoing humanitarian efforts in Puerto Rico following the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria earlier this fall.

Commented Brian Zaro, executive vice president of Zaro’s Family Bakery, “We’re thrilled to be back in the old neighborhood and to see so many warm and familiar faces again. As we heat up the ovens once more we do so tomorrow in aid of our friends and family in Puerto Rico who are dear to so many of our valued customers – in Parkchester and throughout the City.”

Zaro’s, which first opened in The Bronx in 1927on Edward L. Grant Highway, has maintained a constant retail and commercial presence in the borough for 90 years.It presently owns and operates six locations in New York City -- including multiple at Grand Central and Penn Stations -- and one in Newark, NJ’s Penn Station. Its new Parkchesterspace, its seventh in New York City,will mark the bakery’s official return to the neighborhood following the 2015 closure ofits original location on Hugh Grant Circle where it had been situated since June, 1959.
