Melissa Goren Joins Elite Lighting Association

Jaros, Baum &Bolles (JB&B)is pleased to announce that Melissa Goren, studio manager of JB&B’s architectural lighting design division, LightBox Studios, has been admitted tothe International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD). The prestigious IALD community only accepts applicants who meet the highest educational and professional standards.

Elite Among the Elite

The benchmark to achieving voting-level membership requires an applicant to have a minimum of five years’ experience in a senior design position, reputable recommendations, an outstanding portfolio of work and a majority of their career history devoted to lighting design. Goren more than met the criteria with her 16years of architectural lighting design experience across multiple building sectors on projects for The Durst Organization,Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater,the Belfer Research Building at Weill Cornell Medical College,the Jerome L. Greene Science Center atColumbia University’s Manhattanville campus,and the Rohm and Haas BuildinginShanghai, China.

A licensed Professional Engineer in the state of New York, Goren earned her bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering from Pennsylvania State University and her master’s degree in business administration from New York University. She was a judge for the 2016 Illuminating Engineering Society of New York City (IESNYC) Lumen Awards, and a member of both the 2016 New York City Energy Conservation Code Commercial Committee and the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) Controls Protocol Committee,whichwrites TM-23-11,a technical resource and list of standards for lighting designers who incorporate control strategies.
