Simpson Thacher Elects Eleven New Partners

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP announced yesterday that it has elected eleven attorneys as members of the Firm effective January 1, 2018. The new partners are:

Stephen Blake (Palo Alto) Stephen concentrates his practice on securities litigation, M&A and appraisal litigation, and government investigations. He has extensive experience representing technology companies, financial institutions and private equity firms and often works with international companies facing litigation over cross-border transactions and securities offerings. He received his J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2008 and a B.A., with distinction, from Cornell University in 2005.

Davis Coen (New York) — Davis represents private equity firms and portfolio companies in commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures and financings. He has advised clients on a wide range of domestic and international real estate transactions, including public-to-private transactions, securitized financings and portfolio acquisitions. Davis received his J.D., cum laude, from Cornell Law School in 2008, where he was Senior Notes Editor of the Cornell International Law Journal. He graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2002 with a B.A., magna cum laude, and was a University Scholar and a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

William R. Golden (Washington, D.C.) — Will focuses his practice on capital markets, securities and corporate governance matters. He represents both issuers and investment banks on a broad range of securities transactions, including IPOs and other equity and equity-linked offerings, spin-offs and high yield and investment grade debt offerings, as well as exchange offers and other liability management transactions. Will received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2008 and his B.A., with distinction, in 2004 from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Daniel R. Kay (New York) — Dan is a member of the Firm’s Banking and Credit Practice. He advises lenders and arrangers in connection with a variety of corporate finance transactions, including acquisition financings, bank and bridge loan financings and refinancings. Dan received his J.D. from Harvard Law School, cum laude, in 2007, where he served as Editor of the Harvard Environmental Law Review, and an A.B. from Dartmouth College, summa cum laude, in 2004, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Robert Lee (London)— Rob is a member of the Firm’s Private Funds Practice. He represents various sponsors of private equity, infrastructure and other alternative investment funds on fundraisings, co-investments and managed accounts. In addition, Rob advises on a broad range of ongoing fund advisory matters for numerous fund sponsors. He received his L.P.C. from the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice in 2005; his Post Graduate Diploma in Law from University of the West of England in 2004; and his B.S.c. from the University of Bristol, with first class honours, in 2003.

Jennifer J. Levitt (Los Angeles) — Jen represents financial sponsors and investment banks in connection with debt financings for private equity, real estate, infrastructure, debt and other investment funds. She represents clients in complicated financings designed to provide fund-level leverage to facilitate and support investment activities, including margin loans and other forms of back leverage. Jen received her J.D., cum laude, in 2001 from Harvard Law School and her B.A., magna cum laude, in 1997 from Duke University, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Prior to joining the Firm, she clerked for the Honorable J. Spencer Letts of the U.S. District Court. Jen was a Senior Counsel at the Firm prior to her election as a Partner.

Jonathan Ozner (New York) — Jon focuses his practice on representing issuers, private equity sponsors and underwriters in a wide range of securities offerings, including offerings of high yield and investment grade debt securities, initial public offerings, follow-on and secondary equity offerings, acquisition financing transactions and exchange and tender offers. He also provides advice regarding ongoing public reporting, compliance and corporate governance matters. Jon received his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 2007 and his B.A. from Duke University in 2004.

Andrew B. Purcell (New York) —Drew is a member of the Firm’s Tax Practice and advises clients on financing, credit, fund formation, M&A and private equity transactions. He received his J.D., magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, from New York University School of Law in 2008, where he was an Executive Editor of the NYU Law Review. Drew received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Duke University in 2004.

Ravi Purushotham (New York) — Ravi specializes in public and private mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions. He regularly represents corporations and private equity firms in a wide range of transactions and corporate governance matters. He received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania in 2008 and his B.A. from Williams College in 2000.

Mary B. Touchstone (New York) — Mary is the Head of the Firm’s Fund Finance Practice and represents financial sponsors in a wide variety of complicated financings designed to provide fund-level leverage to facilitate and support investment activities. She advises sponsors of private equity, real estate, energy, infrastructure, debt and other investment funds on many of their largest and most complex fund facilities. Mary received her J.D. in 1988 from Vanderbilt University Law School, where she was a member of the Vanderbilt Law Review, and her A.B., cum laude, from Duke University in 1985.

Yang Wang (Beijing) — Yang represents private equity funds and corporate clients on various mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, corporate finance transactions and other general corporate matters. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School in 2008, where he was a Clarence Darrow Scholar and served as an Article Editor of the Michigan Law Review. He received his M.A. in Applied Mathematics in 2005 from the University of Maryland, as well as his B.A. in Economics, summa cum laude, in 2000, and his B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science,magna cum laude, in 2001. Yang was a Counsel at the Firm prior to his election as a Partner.
