Laura Hay, who has more than 30 years' experience in the insurance industry, including 25 years with KPMG in the US where she served as head of the insurance practice, has been appointed Head of Global Insurance for KPMG International.
She succeeds Gary Reader, who has led the global insurance practice since 2013 and has become KPMG's Global Head of Sales and Markets.

Laura joined KPMG in the US in 1993, after working for MetLife in their actuarial student program. She was named to lead the US firm's insurance practice in 2011 and has held other key leadership positions with KPMG in the US, in the insurance, actuarial and financial risk management practices. In 2011 Laura also joined KPMG's Global Insurance Leadership Team, helping to launch the Global Insurance strategy. In 2016, she completed a five year term on the Board of Directors of KPMG in the US and the KPMG Foundation Board.
Laura has extensive experience working with global insurance clients helping address complex challenges, particularly in areas of strategy and innovation, accounting change, integrating risk and performance management and finance/actuarial transformation. She has a keen interest in the continued development of the insurance profession and is a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries.
