Heartbeat Named to Ad Age Best Places to Work List

11/13/17

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Leading healthcare marketing agency, Heartbeat, has been named to the 2017 Advertising Age Best Places to Work list. The prestigious Ad Age listing is used to honor the top 50 companies that have excelled in creating quality workplaces for their employees. The industry-wide survey and resulting awards program is designed to identify, recognize, and celebrate the best employers in the Advertising and Marketing industries.

To be considered, participating ad agencies, ad-tech firms, media companies, and marketing divisions from across the United States entered a two-part survey process to determine inclusion and placement on the list. The first consisted of an evaluation of workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems, and demographics (accounting for approximately 25% of the total evaluation). The second part consisted of a company-wide employee survey to measure the overall employee experience (approximately 75% of the total evaluation). The combined scores determined the company’s final ranking on the list.

Heartbeat is the only healthcare-focused agency to make the 2017 list. Widely-known for passionate devotion to company culture, the company has maintained a steadfast commitment to cultivating a unique employee experience. Internal programs like the “Upbeat” culture committee and activity hub, the “Beat Basics” agency education program, a robust Employee Appreciation Week, professional development stipends, and lavish anniversary rewards are a few of the many reasons the company boasts some of the highest employee satisfaction and retention rates in the industry—all factors that weighed into Heartbeat’s Best Places to Work list inclusion.

On Heartbeat’s selection, Ad Age officials noted, “We had more interest in this year’s list than ever before, with hundreds of companies completing the application process. After reviewing those applications and surveys, [Heartbeat] stood out. Your inclusion on our list means you’re one of the best in the business at recruiting, retaining, and cultivating talent. It’s a huge accomplishment.”

“As an agency leader, it’s difficult to think of anything more gratifying than this achievement,” said Nadine Leonard, Heartbeat Managing Director / Executive Planning Director. “The quality of our work is a reflection of the quality of our talent. Advertising is an industry known for long hours, strenuous effort, and frequent turnover, so trying to change that dynamic has been critical for our continued growth and success.”

Michelle Edwards, Heartbeat’s Director of Operations & Human Resources and driving force behind the company’s numerous employee programs, said of the Ad Age honor, “Our employees work damn hard, so my team works damn hard to make this place enjoyable for them, simply because they deserve nothing less. We genuinely feel that each and every Heartbeater is a valued member of this community and their contributions and accomplishments should be celebrated. Making sure that they know and feel that appreciation every single day is rewarding enough. Being recognized externally for something we do intuitively is just an added bonus.”

About Heartbeat

Heartbeat is a full-service agency for healthcare Challenger Brands. Challengers are playing a high-stakes game—they must battle behemoth market leaders, upend ingrained treatment habits, or transform a “me-too” product into “yes-please.”

The agency is known for serving up distinctive strategies and differentiating approaches, ensuring a client’s market position is uniquely owned. They house strategy, creative, media & technology under a single roof for the tightest, most integrated campaigns possible. That’s the philosophy, here are the creds: 200 employees between NYC & LA; 6 agency leaders with a decade+ of tenure; a pile of awards from the likes of the Mannys, MM&M, OMMA & Clio, not to mention an Agency of the Year nom to boot; and led by a Managing Director who dared to be quoted as follows, “We celebrate people who stand up and say, ‘You know what? This is dumb.’” Damn straight.
