Assa Properties announced that Bar Gonzo, a 4,000-square-foot 70’s-inspired restaurant and lounge, has opened at its Cassa Times Square Hotel and Residences. The restaurant is situated on two levels in the hotel, occupying a portion of the lobby and the second floor. The restaurant and lounge is slated to open by November 9th.
“Bar Gonzo perfectly complements the Cassa brand, offering guests and residents an urban escape,” said Solly Assa, President and CEO of Assa Properties. “We’re thrilled to be adding this exciting restaurant and lounge concept to our luxury property which will serve as a premium amenity to the neighborhood, our patrons and the public.”
The bar is elaborately decorated with pink, green, gold, and blue paint colors and resembles famous sites like the Polo Lounge and the Old San Juan Hotel. The two-level lounge is outfitted with mid-century modern furniture, marble detailing, neon signage and a variety of peacock statues. The ground level dining area, known as the Peacock Bar, can seat up to 40 people. A marble staircase leads to the second floor which consists of a raw bar, charcuterie station, a tiki-style bar and the expansive Cabana Veranda terrace. The all-season terrace seats up to 100 with a capacity of 150.
In addition to the Italian-American, farm-to-table tapas offerings – which will be the main culinary focus – there will be an abundance of specialty cocktails to choose from on the menu. The food menu will be curated by Chef and owner R.L. King, a veteran of both The Heath and Gallow Green at the McKittrick Hotel, il Buco, and Hundred Acres at Five Points. Drinks will be crafted by beverage consultant Tim Cooper who is also known for his work at the Flatiron Lounge and Montauk’s Surf Lodge. Bar Gonzo is owned by the team that created Ronnybrook Farms and The Tippler in Chelsea Market.
The Bar Gonzo concept fuses well with that of Cassa’s, which offers the very best in high-end luxury. Guest rooms are inspired by the refined luxury and relaxed residential vibe of an elegant Manhattan apartment – boutique rooms are an urban retreat from the city’s hustle and bustle. Additionally, Cassa offers a variety of serviced apartment rentals (studio, 1 Bedroom, 2 Bedroom and Penthouse), providing all the pleasures, perks and pampering of Cassa Hotel but in a fully-furnished private condo.
Cassa Times Square Hotel and Residences is situated on Manhattan’s west side between 38th and 39th Streets. Located directly behind the Lincoln Tunnel, with nearby access to the West Side Highway and the Times Square transportation hub, the property is easily accessible to commuters and visitors.
