Richard Gardiner Joins The Johnson Company as Chief Investment Officer

The Johnson Company, the private investment company of the Johnson family, today announced the appointment of Richard Gardiner as Chief Investment Officer. Gardiner, brings 25 years of wide ranging investment experience across all asset classes and will be responsible for leading the firm's investment activities in public and private assets. Gardiner succeeds Rick Slocum who left to join Harvard Management Corporation as Chief Investment Officer. Gardiner will report to Ira Akselrad, the President of the company.

Gardiner joins The Johnson Company after serving as Chief Investment Officer of the Trust Company and Head of the Investment Strategy Group at Neuberger Berman. Earlier in his career, Gardiner was head of Arbitrage & Credit and a member of the Investment Committee at Man Investments, after a lengthy, successful tenure at J.P. Morgan and Goldman Sachs.

Gardiner graduated cum laude from Yale University and earned his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. He lives in New York City with his wife and two daughters.
