Erika Levin

Lewis Baach Kaufmann Middlemiss, one of the country’s leading litigation boutiques, today announced that Erika Levin is joining the firm as a partner in its New York office.

Ms. Levin has deep experience in arbitration and litigation in both the US and Latin America, having practiced with several top firms, including Clifford Chance and Stone & Magnanini, a spin-off of Boies Schiller Flexner. Most recently, she served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel at TheJudge, a leading UK-based international litigation finance company with offices in New York and California.

Born in Brazil, Ms. Levin speaks Portuguese, Spanish, and English. She will continue her practice in litigation and arbitration with an emphasis on Latin America, bolstering the firm’s already robust expertise in those areas.

“Erika is a terrific lawyer, very entrepreneurial, and her experience fits perfectly with our global practice and especially strong presence in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and elsewhere in Latin America,” said Eric Lewis, Senior Partner of Lewis Baach Kaufmann Middlemiss. “She will be an invaluable asset to our team.”

Adam Kaufmann added, “Erika will strengthen our practice and network internationally. Her experience in the business side of the law dovetails exceptionally well with our forward-thinking approach to resolving our clients’ legal issues. She has worked with governments and major corporate entities, is very well regarded as an arbitrator, and is a wonderful, charismatic lawyer and friend. She will be a great fit.”

“At TheJudge I had a global vantage point with respect to the business side of the law,” said Levin. “However, I missed the excitement and challenge that comes with the daily practice of law. At LBKM, I will be able to apply the insights that I have gained with respect to the business and structure of litigation finance to a legal practice. As head of TheJudge’s New York office, I was fortunate to get to know the wonderful people at LBKM, thanks in part to the proximity of our offices in the Chrysler Building. They are bright, innovative, and agile lawyers who understand serving client needs in a competitive legal market. I am very excited to be joining the firm.”

Hailing from the top legal offices in government, corporate, and private practice, the lawyers at Lewis Baach house a wealth of substantive knowledge and prioritize their clients’ business interests in assessing legal strategy. Their global reach spans from the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, to Asia.

Ms. Levin received a BA from Rutgers College and earned her JD from Rutgers School of Law. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University School of Law teaching international commercial arbitration, international sales law, international business transactions, and fashion law.
