LionTree Names Ursula Burns as an Executive-in-residence

9/26/17

LionTree LLC, a global investment and merchant banking firm focused on media, technology and telecommunications, today announced that Ursula Burns is joining its Executive-In-Residence Program.

LionTree provides value to clients through unique insights, tailored ideas and actionable opportunities that drive results. With the addition of Ms. Burns, the firm’s EIR program has grown into a network of seven executives and industry leaders that complement the firm’s core business with sector expertise, relationships and market insights in emerging areas and important geographies. Specifically, Ms. Burns will bring her deep insight and industry experience to bear on LionTree’s clients across the TMT landscape. As former Chief Executive Officer of Xerox, she became the first African American woman to serve as CEO of a Fortune 500 company, and through her time there, Ms. Burns has cultivated a wealth of contacts and relationships in the technology industry, and developed a unique perspective that will help the firm’s clients identify potential partners, and evaluate and execute strategic initiatives.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Ursula to our Executive in Residence team at LionTree. She brings with her immense industry knowledge and global perspectives which we find valuable in the evolving TMT and geopolitical landscape,” said Aryeh B. Bourkoff, Founder and CEO of LionTree.

“I am very excited to be joining LionTree and the innovative team that has been involved in some of the largest media, technology and telecommunications transactions of the last five years,” Ms. Burns. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to help our clients identify opportunities for growth.”

Ms. Burns served as Chief Executive Officer of Xerox from 2009 to 2016 and Chairwoman of the company from 2010 to 2016. In 2009, President Barack Obama appointed Ms. Burns to help lead the White House national program on STEM, and she was appointed chair of the President’s Export Council in 2015 after service as Vice Chair since 2010. She currently serves as a board director of several companies, including the American Express Corporation, Exxon Mobile, Nestle S.A., VEON Ltd., one of the world’s largest integrated telecommunications services operators, Datto Inc., a data protection and security company, and others, and provides leadership counsel to several other community, educational and non-profit organizations.

Ms. Burns will be featured on an upcoming episode of KindredCast, a podcast produced and curated entirely by LionTree to bring news and analysis from industry insiders and experts to a larger audience. Previous episodes of KindredCast are available on iTunes and SoundCloud.
