STAMFORD, Conn. & SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sema4, a health information company providing advanced genomic testing, and PWNHealth, whose physicians and genetic counselors provide medical oversight and counseling for testing, today announced a new partnership to enable genetic testing for consumers on a nationwide basis.
PWNHealth will provide physician oversight for Sema4’s newest product CarrierCheck™, the only carrier test that screens for 67 inherited conditions that consumers can purchase online. Sema4 CarrierCheck was developed in collaboration with Helix, a personal genomics company with an online marketplace for DNA-powered products.
For consumers initiating purchase of Sema4 CarrierCheck, PWNHealth’s clinical team will review each individual’s health history, a pre-purchase requirement, to determine if it is the appropriate genetic test for them. For all approved orders, PWNHealth’s network of genetic counselors will be available to help consumers understand their test results.
