Abernathy MacGregor Announces Promotions

 Abernathy MacGregor, a leading strategic communications advisory firm to global companies, investment firms and other organizations, today announced a number of senior executive appointments, including the promotions of Patrick Clifford, Dana Gorman, Kate Murray and Pat Tucker to Managing Director.

Patrick Clifford, who joined Abernathy MacGregor in 2007, provides strategic communications counsel to leading global investors, including hedge funds, private equity firms and institutional investors. He advises many of the world’s largest and highest-profile investors and their portfolio companies on media relations and reputation management. Patrick graduated from the College of the Holy Cross with a B.A. in Economics and Accounting. 

Dana Gorman, who has been at the firm for more than 11 years, has led a number of high-profile projects stretching across mergers and acquisitions and corporate reorganizations. He has extensive experience advising public and private companies, as well as private equity firms, on reputation initiatives, strategic profile raising efforts, transaction communications and crisis preparation and management. Dana graduated from the University of Richmond with a B.A. in Journalism and Spanish. 

Kate Murray started her career at Abernathy MacGregor in 2005. After Hurricane Katrina, she moved to New Orleans to help manage the recovery efforts, starting as Communications Director for the New Orleans City Council and ascending to serve as Deputy Chief of Staff to the Council President. Kate returned to Abernathy MacGregor in 2014 and currently advises companies on public and investor relations, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, crises, initial public offerings and complex corporate reorganizations. Kate graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Political Science. Pat has worked on some of the most notable contested situations in recent years, including crossborder hostile transactions, mergers challenged by elected officials and antitrust authorities and proxy fights against established and first-time activist funds. He also routinely advises clients in pivotal moments, including changes to corporate strategy, securing approval for public projects and a broad range of crises and other issues. Pat graduated from Trinity College with a B.A. in English Literature. He is a member of the National Investor Relations Institute and Society for Corporate Governance. Abernathy MacGregor also has recognized talent at other levels of the firm, including elevating Kendell Moore to the position of Senior Vice President, recognizing her superior work and contributions to the firm’s crisis management practice as well as its shareholder activism and transaction communications work. The firm also announced the recent promotions of four Senior Account Executives and four Account Executives. Additionally, Abernathy MacGregor recently announced the addition of communication veterans Erica Abrams and Carl Folta as Senior Counselors.
