Eyebeam’s New Artist-in-residence Cohort Is Heavy On Racial Justice

New York art institution Eyebeam announced this week the new residents for the year that comes, all of whose work focuses on issues of racial inequity in society.

The artists will receive $30,000 for the year and 24/7 access to Eyebeam’s facility in Industry City as they continue work on their projects. This year’s theme is trust, as it relates to democracy, ownership or community.

“As institutions lose credibility, people are placing their faith in new myths,” the organization writes. “Multiple publics are in constant negotiation and agitation. It is critical to design methods for critique, communication and coordination towards a more open, inventive and just world.”
