8/15/17

Chawla’s 2 US announced Grand Opening Celebration details for their first Manhattan franchise restaurant, on Third Avenue at 18th Street, in Gramercy Park: Masala in Your Mouth, Henna on Your Hands.

Slated for Tuesday, August 15th, 2017, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at 216 Third Avenue, the Masala in Your Mouth, Henna on Your Hands Grand Opening is an open house for all area residents seeking a new, favorite Indian restaurant, both those who quickly have become regulars already and those yet to try Chawla’s 2 US Gramercy’s array of high-quality Indian specialties.

A henna artist will be adorning guests’ hands and arms with their choice of traditional designs, many of which carry symbolic meanings in sync with the blossoming of a new, friendly neighborhood restaurant: joy, happiness, beauty and new life.

The kitchen will be serving up a few of the most popular – and most ordered in NYC – dishes, including: Chicken Tikka Masala, an array of Smaller Bite side dishes, the full range of homemade breads and rice, Chicken Biryani, Saag Paneer, along with its proprietary Chawla’s Cream Chicken, and introducing some surprises that aren’t as well known in the US. To refresh and sweeten the night, guests can sip mango lassi and sample light, summery Indian desserts.

“Chawla’s 2 US Gramercy looks forward to entertaining and welcoming New Yorkers hungry for delicious Indian food in beautiful Gramercy Park. A Grand Opening is a joyous occasion; we hope the tasty food and henna artist will bring happiness, sustenance and pleasant memories to those who will become our clients and friends for many decades to come,” said Jagdeep Singh, Master Franchisee of Chawla’s 2 US.

Located at 216 Third Avenue, at 19th Street, the casual attire, full-service restaurant Chawla’s 2 US Gramercy is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Since opening this spring, Chawla’s has become a go-to friendly dining spot in Gramercy, with the ownership and staff knowing regulars by name, as well as remembering their favorites, and recommending other dishes to acquaint them with an even wider number of delicious Indian recipes.

In addition to dining in the 30-seat restaurant, which is accessible by several MTA subway and bus lines for those who don’t live or work in the vicinity, Chawla’s 2 Gramercy also delivers to a wide range of neighborhoods beyond Gramercy itself. Manhattan offices have been loving the catering options, ordering lunch for their employee teams regularly, and customers who first tasted lunch or dinner in the restaurant or by delivery, are now turning to Chawla’s to cater their special events.

ABOUT CHAWLA’S 2 US
Chawla’s 2 US is the American master franchise of India-based Chawla’s 2, “The Famous Taste of India,” Indian food restaurant empire. Jagdeep Singh, the master franchisee, introduced Chawla’s 2 to the United States, first with a Queens, New York, restaurant that opened in 2015, and most recently with Chawla’s 2 Gramercy, which opened in Manhattan in 2017.

Founded in 1960 in India by S. Attar Singh Chawla, Chawla’s 2 now has 110 locations in India, is one of the largest franchise businesses in the country, and has expanded to Australia, New Zealand and Canada. Jagdeep Singh, who was born in New Delhi, purchased the US master franchise to bring this beloved food to America, both to those who grew up on it in India and live in the US, and to those who love authentic Indian food, but find it difficult to locate a restaurant that serves dishes made exclusively from fresh, locally-sourced ingredients, prepared “to order” matching each diner’s tastes and requests. No preservatives or artificial colors are used in the food, nor is anything frozen or otherwise processed. Spices are ground by hand and are a proprietary blend created by Chawla’s 2.
