Kelley Drye & Warren LLP announced today that Jaimie Nawaday joined the firm as a partner in the White Collar Crimes and Investigations and Litigation practice groups from the U.S. Attorney's office in the Southern District of New York.
Jaimie served in both the Civil and Criminal Divisions of the U.S. Attorney's office and successfully handled civil and criminal jury trials. As a member of the Civil Division's Civil Fraud Unit, she spearheaded significant corporate fraud cases, including the first case the Department of Justice tried under the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act (FIRREA) and the first trial by the Department of Justice against a major financial institution in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. Most recently, Jaimie was a member of the Criminal Division's Money Laundering and Asset Forfeiture Unit, where she prosecuted healthcare and securities fraud and money laundering, among other serious crimes. In 2015, Jaimie received the Attorney General's Distinguished Service Award in connection with negotiating a global settlement of federal and state civil fraud actions against a major financial institution.
"We are excited to welcome Jaimie to Kelley Drye," said Robert I. Steiner, managing partner of Kelley Drye's New York office. "Her significant experience investigating and trying large, complex matters brought by the government on both the civil and criminal side gives her a valuable perspective that will help our clients facing a spectrum of white collar matters and government investigations."
Jaimie focuses her practice on government investigations, white collar defense and complex civil litigation. She advises and represents organizations and individuals in internal and government investigations relating to the False Claims Act and FIRREA, criminal fraud, anti-money laundering and asset forfeiture matters.
"Kelley Drye's collaborative culture and entrepreneurial nature make it the perfect next step after leaving the U.S. Attorney's office," said Jaimie. "I look forward to leveraging my trial experience and background to enhance the firm's litigation practices."
