Koch Group and Company, LLP (Koch), accounting and tax advisors to numerous individuals and businesses in the New York metropolitan area, became a division of top 40 accounting and advisory firm Berdon LLP, effective July 1, 2017. Stuart Koch, CPA, founding partner of Koch, brings with him a team of four partners and 20 professionals who will move into Berdon's midtown Manhattan office at 360 Madison Avenue.
"It's a seamless transition," says Koch. "Our clients will continue to receive the accounting and tax services they are accustomed to, but will also now benefit from a wider array of tax consulting and advisory services—including state and local tax; retirement, succession, and estate planning; operational advisory; and asset valuation—through Berdon and its more than 400 professionals."
"When we consider a merger candidate, we look to see if they can enhance our portfolio of services we're providing and if they blend well with our culture," says Mark Bosswick, CPA, J.D., LL.M., managing partner of Berdon. "Stuart and his team add a further layer of strength to our existing real estate expertise by providing additional specialization in the low income housing area."
Koch has been providing high quality tax planning and advisory services to high net worth individuals and their families and businesses since 1988. Their expertise in the real estate, not-for-profit and charter schools sectors will enhance Berdon's breadth of knowledge and service capabilities in these areas. Berdon, celebrating its centennial year (1917-2017), is excited about the opportunities this combination presents in helping drive its mission: To provide clients with superior quality tax, accounting and advisory services by listening to their issues, solving their problems, and delivering innovative solutions that exceed their expectations. In a culture that fosters teamwork and innovation, Berdon focuses on its clients and their individual and business objectives—helping them compete in a global marketplace and achieve their own great moments in history.
