Jersey City Urby Announces Partnership With Leesa Sleep

7/19/17

Jersey City Urby, the cantilevered skyscraper on the Hudson River waterfront, today announced a partnership with direct-to-consumer luxury mattress company Leesa. Recognized for its social impact program, Leesa donates one mattress for every ten they sell as part of their One-Ten program. The partnership underscores Jersey City Urby’s commitment to collaboration with like-minded brands to offer programming that redefines the residential rental experience.

As a result of the partnership, Jersey City Urby residents can attend The Dream Dinner Series, a rotation of monthly dinner parties to be held in different locations within the building. In collaboration with Leesa, each event will be hosted by a notable guest speaker who will lead a thoughtful discussion on a topic they are passionate about. David Wolfe, Leesa’s Co-Founder and CEO, will kick off the event on July 19th with a conversation centered on the life-changing experience of building a business for profit and purpose.

Additionally, Leesa will be outfitting the rooms of influencers residing at Urby. The first will be Jersey City Urby’s Scientist-in-Residence, Paul Hoffman, CEO of the Liberty Science Center. He will be provided a mattress as a means of exploring the future of mattress innovation and sleep technology. Wrestler Helen Maroulis will be next, and will also host an upcoming Dream Dinner. Artists, athletes and influencers alike will have the opportunity to receive a Leesa mattress and host or attend a Dream Dinner moving forward.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Leesa to offer Jersey City Urby residents unique experiences that aren’t typical of today’s rental developments,” said David Barry, President of Ironstate Development. “Collaborating with Leesa was a natural fit for Urby, as our brands share similar values when it comes to community building and the championing of sustainable living.”

As a way of providing inspiration and dream sharing within the community, a Dream Wall will live in Urby’s lobby. Residents and guests will be encouraged to write down their dreams and contribute to an interactive piece of art onsite as well as share through social channels using hashtag, #dreamwall.

“At Leesa, we measure our success as much by our impact on the world as by our sales and profits. When forming strategic partnerships, we look for like-minded brands that approach life and business in a way that resonates with us and our consumers,” said David Wolfe, Leesa Sleep’s CEO. “We feel we have accomplished that with Urby—a company that shares our core values and appreciation for the intertwined nature of work, play, health and wellness, community and social impact.”

Jersey City Urby residents will receive special pricing for Leesa mattresses, as well as the opportunity to try the mattresses in the building’s model units.

About Jersey City Urby

At 713 feet in height, Jersey City Urby is the tallest residential tower in New Jersey. The 69-story building features 762 apartments and is located just off the Hudson River waterfront, directly across from Manhattan. Jersey City Urby is co-developed by Ironstate Development and Roseland Residential Trust, a subsidiary of Mack-Cali Realty Corporation.

The Urby concept is a complete re-think of the residential rental-housing concept that is design driven, tailored to fit every neighborhood and developed with the needs of the contemporary urban renter in mind. Urby is conceptualized by Ironstate Development, the real estate firm behind the development of the Standard East Village, Chiltern Firehouse in London and W Hotel in Hoboken; and Concrete, the Amsterdam-based architecture and design firm responsible for the architecture and interiors of citizenM Hotels around the world.

Communal spaces are integral to each Urby and are designed to foster natural opportunities for residents to interact. They include: a fully equipped gym offering regular classes, from cardio to strength training to yoga and barre; heated outdoor pool and deck that will host sunset events, meditation and more; a communal kitchen for cooking demonstrations, tastings and talks; and the Urby Creative Lab, a space for residents to participate in interior design workshops, flower arranging, homemade apothecary and other classes.

The Jersey City location is the second of a planned series of Urby developments set to open in other cities. The first Urby opened in 2016 in Staten Island and a new location will open this summer in Harrison, New Jersey.
