Japanese restaurant Tamashii will be opening its third restaurant in Queens at 71-34 Austin Street, nestled between national retailers Victoria’s Secret and Sephora on Forest Hills’ popular shopping corridor.
Eastern Consolidated’s Harris Bulow, Senior Director, and Aric Trakhtenberg, Associate Director, arranged the 15-year lease for the landlord, and procured the tenant, Tamashii Red, which is taking 1,600 square feet on the ground floor and 1,300 square feet on the lower level.
“This stretch of Austin Street is a retailers dream, surrounded by a dense residential area with financial demographics similar to the Upper West Side of Manhattan,” Bulow said. “Significant foot traffic is generated by Victoria’s Secret, Sephora, New York & Company, Banana Republic, and Aldo, and eating destinations such as Shake Shack, Bareburger, 5 Burro (one of the best Tex-Mex places in NYC), Dirty Pierre’s (one of the best burger places in the city), and specialty fish and cheese shops, all of which are on the same block front as 71-34 Austin Street.”
Bulow continued, “The area also is a transportation hub with four subway lines a block away on Queens Boulevard, a Long Island Rail Road station around the corner, and busses servicing Kew Garden Hills and Middle Village. Additionally, concert venue Forest Hills Tennis Stadium is nearby.”
The retail storefront at 71-34 Austin Street features frontage on a highly visible three-way corner location on Austin Street facing Queens Boulevard, down 71st Road, and includes high ceilings and column free space. Bulow and Trakhtenberg are continuing to market the building’s second floor, which was formerly used as a spa but would also be suitable any user who didn’t need ground floor space.
The restaurant group behind Tamashii Red also operates Tamashii Ramen in Astoria, and Tamashii Blue in Long Island City, and serves specialties such as Miso Ramen, Shio Ramen, and Shoyu Ramen among other popular dishes.
