7/9/17

James H. Rowland, partner at construction law firm Zetlin & De Chiara LLP, was honored by the Queens Centers for Progress (QCP) with its 2017 Business Leadership Award at the non-profit’s annual gala on June 27th at Terrace on the Park.   QCP, formerly known as United Cerebral Palsy of Queens, provides services and support to children and adults who have developmental disabilities, promoting their independence, community involvement and quality of life.

In his introductory remarks, QCP Board President Michael J. Macaluso, RA, noted James’ service to design professionals, owners/developers and the construction industry.

James spoke of his continuing passion for the law and how fortunate he was to find a home at Zetlin & De Chiara.   He also discussed the profound impact of two events on his life: the recent passing of his brother John, an NYPD 9/11 first responder, and a visit to QCP to meet with their staff and the children who participate in their exceptional programs.  He challenged the audience to follow the lead of both his brother and QCP to try to positively impact the lives of everyone around them.

“I want to congratulate James on his award from the QCP, a well-deserved recognition from a wonderful organization.  Also, his speech put a spotlight on unique individuals with real difficulties and hardships who persevere and achieve meaningful lives. They are an inspiration to all of us,” said Raymond T. Mellon, Senior Partner at Zetlin & De Chiara.

James accepted the 2017 Business Leadership Award on behalf of his clients, partners, friends and family, thanking them for their continued and unwavering support and for allowing him to succeed.
