Event Celebrating the Flourishing Hell’s Kitchen Neighborhood Included the Unveiling of Sculpture by Acclaimed Artist Miguel Ovalle

Silverstein Properties recently hosted an Art Meets Mixology event, where acclaimed mixed media artist Miguel Ovalle and his video collaborator Dru Blumensheid unveiled “Hell’s Kitchen Rising,” a three-dimensional, eight-foot sculpture, depicting the past, present, and future of Hell’s Kitchen. The event was held at Silver Towers, Silverstein Properties’ 1,359-unit rental apartment community in Hell’s Kitchen.

A long-time supporter of the arts, Silverstein Properties Chairman Larry Silverstein has housed artists at the World Trade Center for more than a decade. Most recently, street artists were invited to use an unfinished floor of 4 World Trade Center as a giant canvas. The walls, elevator bank, steel beams, and glass façade panels of the tower’s 69 th floor are now adorned with an array of art works, including the “Gallactical Ride” sculpture by Miguel Ovalle.

“We were thrilled with the opportunity to once again work with Miguel,” said Aisling Gregory, Marketing & Digital Media Director, Silverstein Properties. “His ‘Hell’s Kitchen Rising’ is a moving piece that remarkably captures the uniqueness of Silver Towers and the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood.”

“I am excited that I was able to do this piece for this event,” said Miguel Ovalle, who is also known as Dizmology. “The sculpture celebrates the influence of architecture from the Silver Towers structure, the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood and New York City. It has a beautiful curve which is symbolic of a burst of light energy.”

Guests were also treated to culinary offerings from some of the best local establishments, including 5 Napkin Burger and Le Vela, and cocktails were sponsored by 1893 from the Makers of Pepsi-Cola. In addition, celebrity mixologist, Rob Floyd from Bar Rescue wowed the crowd with his interactive, intimate “Cocktail Theatre” performance demonstrating the power of liquid nitrogen to create a melt-in-your-mouth summer cocktail.

The event is part of a series celebrating the rich history and vibrancy of the neighborhood, which Mr. Silverstein recognized more than 30 years ago when he purchased the land where Silver Towers stands today.
