Newmark Holdings, a vertically integrated owner, operator, property manager and developer of commercial real estate, announced that nonprofit cinema Film Forum has renewed its 10,500-square-foot lease at 200 Varick Street. The410,000-square-foot, 12-story building is located in the Hudson Square neighborhood.
The announcement was made by co-CEOs Eric Gural and Brian Steinwurtzel of Newmark Holdings. Donna Vogel represented Newmark Holdingsin the transaction.
Established in 1970, Film Forum - which has been at its current location since 1990 - is New York City’s only autonomous non-profit cinema, presenting world-class independent films, documentaries and classics 365 days a year.
“We are thrilled that longtime tenant Film Forum haschosen to continue calling 200 Varick Street its home,” said Mr. Steinwurtzel. “This commitment is a testament to the property’s superior location and strong amenities package as well as the outstanding management team.”
The building was constructed in 1926 and has seen Hudson Square transition from a printing district to a hotbed of creative office tenants within the media, advertising, arts, legal and tech industries.
