160 Year-Old Building Transformed into Luxury Rentals

Otherwise known as 76-78 Court Street, the structure hosted the co-ed Central Grammar School, founded in September 1878, and was the first free public secondary school in New York City. The pre-Civil War era structure has been restored and designed by DiGuiseppe Architect and stands the test of time, infusing it with a modern-day twist. The original exterior intact and graced by two additional stories, The Livingston Collection has residences starting at $3,300, according to Ideal, the exclusive marketing firm for the building.

The lobby contains exquisite furniture, crowned by a Zaha Hadid chandelier, and a mirrored chrome feature wall. One- and two-bedroom residences boast a mix of textured and lacquered imported Porcelanosa Gama-Décor cabinetry, blended with stone countertops and honed porcelain tile backsplashes. The kitchen appliances are of high-end stainless steel.

The bathrooms also have Porcelanosa products. The baths are designed with fine woodgrain porcelain tiles, with built-in shelving and vanities and stone and porcelain sinks. Each apartment’s hardwood floors are finished in five-inch wide plank red oak stained in a mocha satin finish. Select units feature original exposed brick accent walls and arched windows. Ceiling heights vary from floor-to-floor with some as high as 11 feet.
