On Nov 12-13th Blue Compass LLC will host a hackathon at Civic Hall in New York, NY for 100 participants to help shape the future of climate change analysis. Blue Compass LLC, a Virginia-based 8(a) IT firm coordinated with the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA), OGSystems, and the American Geographical Society (hosting the Geography2050.org Symposium at Columbia University the following week) to bring together the best and brightest coders to build predictive analytic visualizations to map conservation efforts for the next 30 years.

"If we can visualize our conservation efforts and insert variables that change the outcome, then we can better inform and show policy makers the effects of decisions before they are made," according to Christine Jung, CEO of Blue Compass.

These efforts are part of a larger strategy to disseminate and inform industry and the public about what information and tools the government can provide assistance in building with commercial partners around common concerns that impact everyone. To help drive that point and attract talented developers, Blue Compass and the hackathon series presenters offer a range of prizes from cash in the thousands to trips to DC to meet government leaders, industry CEO's, and venture capitalists.
