Stephen Jacobs Joins Herrick, Feinstein as Partner, Corporate Co-chair

6/16/16

Herrick, Feinstein LLP today announced that Stephen C. Jacobs, a senior hedge and private equity fund executive, and former corporate lawyer for three Am Law 100 law firms, has joined Herrick as partner and co-chair of the firm’s Corporate Department.

Stephen’s significant fund experience spans a variety of asset classes and industries, including real estate, media, entertainment, telecommunications and technology. His arrival strengthens Herrick’s corporate transactional and private investment fund capabilities, and the firm’s ability to form and advise fund clients in several key practice areas, including art, real estate and sports, as well as investment clients in the firm’s Turkish Practice.

Most recently, Stephen served as chief operating officer, general counsel and chief compliance officer at Spectrum Group Management, a distressed credit and real estate hedge fund and private equity fund. Stephen will continue in these roles at Spectrum, in addition to co-chairing Herrick’s Corporate Department.

Prior to joining Spectrum, Stephen was a corporate partner at Kramer Levin Naftalis & Frankel LLP, where he advised private equity and hedge fund managers in the real estate and TMT sectors. Before that, he spent eight years in senior operating positions at portfolio companies sponsored by the private equity funds Quadrangle Group and Wasserstein & Co. Previously, Stephen was assistant general counsel at AIG, where he was responsible for all domestic mergers and acquisitions, and an attorney in private practice.

Stephen will join Herrick partner Stephen D. Brodie as co-chair of the firm’s Corporate Department, which advises a wide range of clients, including Fortune 1000 companies, financial institutions, private equity firms, venture capital firms, hedge funds, institutional investors and other public and private entities.

“Stephen’s arrival significantly bolsters our fund formation, regulatory and transactional capabilities for private investment funds, and our broader corporate practice,” said Irwin A. Kishner, chairman of Herrick’s Executive Committee. “Our clients will also benefit from Stephen’s insights on the legal services market, drawn from his nearly 30 years of experience on both sides of the attorney-client relationship.”
