Notable New York stocks fell 0.9% on a quiet day for the market. Wednesday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average finished the day down 0.2%, the NASDAQ down 0.5%, and the S&P 500 down 0.3%.

Biggest Gainer
In New York, the biggest gainer Wednesday was Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE). Rising 0.7%, shares closed at $21.36. Trading on volume of 28.7 million, shares changed hands at one times their three-month average volume. International Business Machines Corporation (NYSE:IBM) was another big gainer, gaining 0.2% to finish the day at $193.87 on volume of 3.3 million.

Biggest Loser
Of the stocks losing ground Wednesday, the one hit hardest was Citigroup Inc. (NYSE:C). Shares closed down 3% to finish at $32.36. Trading at 0.8 times their average volume over the past three months, 38.3 million shares changed hands. Another big loser was Morgan Stanley (NYSE:MS), falling 2.8% to close at $18.73 on volume of 15.9 million.
