McLean, Va. -- Clearspring Technologies, Inc., maker of the largest content sharing platform AddThis and industry leading Audience Platform, announced today that Bill Wise has joined Clearspring's Board of Directors, bringing nearly two decades of experience in digital advertising and executive leadership. Wise is well known for his leadership at online media pioneers Right Media, DoubleClick, Ask.com and Yahoo!.
Ted Leonsis, Chairman of Clearspring says, "We are excited to have Bill join the Board. While working with him in my role as a director of MediaBank, he has consistently translated his broad and deep understanding of media into actionable results. His perspective will be an invaluable addition to the board as we continue to accelerate on our Audience Platform business and help connect the largest brands to the largest audiences in movies, automotive, telecommunications, and more."
Wise has a history of taking small online companies with innovative business models and turning them into viable strategic businesses and attractive acquisition targets. Most recently, under his direction as CEO, MediaBank was named by Silicon Alley Insider as one of the 100 most valuable startups in the world. His previous company, Right Media, was acquired by Yahoo! under his leadership as President of Media. At Yahoo!, he was named General Manager for Global Exchange and held C-level roles at Ask.com and DoubleClick, Inc.-companies that experienced tremendous growth due, in part, to his expertise and leadership.
Hooman Radfar, CEO of Clearspring says, "Bill helped establish the real-time bidding ecosystem and enabled the basis for data-driven buying online. We're incredibly excited to work with him to continue to rapidly unlock the massive value of the over 1B unique users we see monthly via the 7M publisher domains that are part of the AddThis network of sites. He just gets it."
On Clearspring's Board, Wise will join other industry notables including Chairman Ted Leonsis, Nigel Morris, co-founder of Capital One and founder of QED Ventures, Philip L. Bronner, general partner of Novak Biddle Venture Partners, Tige Savage, co-founder of Revolution LLC, and Harry Weller, general partner of NEA, along with operating members Hooman Radfar and Gar Richlin.
"Data is the future of online advertising. Clearspring, through their AddThis platform has the largest sharing network on the web and is home to some of the most valuable data out there," says Wise. "With a larger reach than most of the largest online providers out there, the possibilities are tremendous. I am excited to join the company during this incredible period of growth."
